Vancouver trained dancer and teacher, Kelly Douglas has studied at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, The Banff School of Fine Arts and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens with teachers such as Laura Alonso, David Earl, Lynn Seymour and David Wall. While with Alberta Ballet Company she danced in The Nutcracker, Firebird, Serenade, Facade, Allegro Brillante, Coppelia and Cinderella. Ms. Douglas received her Royal Academy of Dance teaching diploma in 1990 and was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. This qualifies her to teach the syllabus of the Academy and enter students to all levels of the Academy’s examination. Kelly is also a member of the Imperial Society of Teaching Dance. She is currently a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the RAD.
Ms. Douglas has had more than two decades of teaching experience during which she has also choreographed and performed in independent dance projects such as Vancouver’s 12 Minute Max and Dancing on the Edge, as well as the Sunshine Coast’s Annual Celebration of Dance. Ms. Douglas was a guest teacher at the Ballet by the Sea Studio in Malibu, California for 7 years.
In July 2012, Kelly auditioned for and was accepted for one of four spots in North and South America to train to become an examine for the Royal Academy of Dance. After successful training in February and March in London England 2013, Ms. Douglas was appointed to the board of the International Panel of Examiners for the Royal Academy of Dance, making her one of fourteen in Canada.
